Old Pasadena
The Californian city of Pasadena is barely ten miles from the downtown heart of Los Angeles. Don’t ignore Pasadena when you are traveling in California. There is much to see and do in the city.
The commercial hub of Pasadena is the downtown area, often referred to as the Old Town Pasadena or simply Old Town. Like the downtown areas of many American cities, Old Town in Pasadena endured a period of slow decline between the 1930s and the 1980s. Since 1980 this historic area has enjoyed a resurgence and has been gradually restored to its former glory. The Old Town area was chartered as a historic district of Pasadena in 1980 and this enabled work to start on renovation and restoration.
Old Town today
The work to bring life back to the Old Town has resulted in the area being one of the most popular shopping destinations in Southern California. Visitors will find a huge range of shops, restaurants, cafes, clubs, and a movie theater. There are also some well-known comedy clubs and dynamic nightlife.
One reason that Old Town is thriving is that people live in the area. Most of the businesses have apartments on their upper floors, and where there are residents, so the area will be full of vigor.
